The end of Gladiator

The other night the Captain and I were burning brain cells together while watching the movie Gladiator. It is one of the Captain's all-time favorite movies. I think it is a guy thing... but I do enjoy it as well.  It has many great messages. Standing up for what you believe in. Never giving up. Doing your best. Facing adversity. Courage, bravery, hope, moral fiber... and my favorite... finishing your life well.

As we were watching I was sort of zoning out... it was the second time it was on in as many days... so I figured it was OK if I mentally skipped a few frames here and there.

Then came the end...

a part we neglected to catch the day before (we really do have lives... I promise)  and I do love the end.

I tried to remember, later, after the movie was over... when the last time was that I watched Gladiator... it must have been a couple of years ago. I say this because I am sure I have never been affected by this movie so strongly as I did the other night.  As Maximus is dying, he catches glimpses of his home, and then finally as the end comes in full, he sees his family, (who were murdered previously in the movie) running towards him to welcome him home.

Well, needless to say, I was a mess of tears. I sniffed and snuffed and wiped my nose and eyes on my sleeve (which I would never do out in public...).  I took a shaky breath and said to Andy...

Caden is going to run to us like that.

I looked up and through blurry eyes I saw he was crying too. Obviously thinking the same thing.

Our baby girl will welcome us Home one day...until then we will strive to accomplish what God has for us here, and hopefully, finish well.

I wanted to post the video here so you could see it yourself...but it would not let me embed it....So I will just attach a link.
Gladiator Ending... Going Home.

Hebrews 12:1
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.

Watching the clip wasn't even needed...your description was powerful enough. Looking forward to that day with you and praying for you right now.

Lindsey is right..your description said it all. What an awesome image of one day you and Andy being able to see Caden running to greet you.
